Manager of Sales

RENEW International is seeking a high-performing Manager of Sales to help us meet our customer acquisition and revenue growth targets. This position is currently scheduled as full time, reporting to the Director of Sales and Pastoral Services.

During 2018, RENEW is celebrating 40 years of fostering spiritual renewal in the Catholic tradition by empowering individuals and communities to encounter God in everyday life, deepen and share their faith, and transition faith into action. Our mission is accomplished through implementing parish small-group programs for the purpose of making missionary disciples and revitalizing parish life.

As we implement our “Forward at 40” strategy, we require a sales leader to examine and modernize our sales approach. We sell parish revitalization processes (i.e. ARISE, Be My Witness, and Why Catholic?) to dioceses and parishes, as well as other faith-sharing resources (e.g. Live Lent!) for new and existing small groups. We are in the process of updating supportive sale tools, (Salesforce and HubSpot), so we can leverage strong, long-lasting customer relationships by partnering with them on their lifelong needs.

We are seeking a Manager of Sales who can help us enhance our sales activities and lead us in the discovery and implementation of new sales techniques that will sustain us into the future.

    • Provide overall sales team leadership including creating new growth strategies and business plans, managing the budget, and working with the Director to set realistic and achievable sales target goals
    • Participate in and make contributions to RENEW’s management team
    • Design and implement a strategic sales plan that expands our customer base and leverages RENEW’s strong presence in the market
    • Achieve growth and sales targets by managing the sales team; monitor and reward their performance; assess the need for new or additional talent and/or systems; and ensure implementation of new and current sales activities
    • Manage, recruit, retain, evaluate, and develop the sales team, including the incumbents:
      • Sales representative (full time)
      • Sales representative (75% time)
    • Present sales, revenue, expense, and forecasting reports to the management team and the Board
    • Coordinate with other RENEW teams on sales-related activities, including:
      • Shared Services Manager, representatives and volunteers (reporting to the Director of Finance/Operations)
      • Marketing Director (reporting to the Director of Human Resources)
      • Pastoral team: full and part-time pastoral representatives who implement processes and maintain client relationships. Work with this team on renewal of business and on expansion of new services (reporting to the Director of Sales and Pastoral Services)
    • Manage Diocesan strategy
    • Manage Direct-to-Parish strategy
    • Identify emerging market trends including new products and competition
    • Manage personal sales portfolio of 100 clients
    • Manage the Executive Director’s sales and relationships
    • Interact with the Board including liaison to the sales committee

    • A minimum of 10 years of sales experience; demonstrated success in cultivation, solicitation, and securing sales; sound record of managing individuals and committees; a strong foundation in best-in-class sales practices
    • A mission-driven approach
    • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or related field
    • A well-organized self-starter and strategic thinker with the ability to manage multiple priorities
    • A metrics-driven, results-oriented decision maker
    • A solid track record of success including management of a major client portfolio; a proven ability to identify prospects; consultation to identify needs; solutions orientation; and the ability to close on sales proposals
    • Ability to motivate sales team to higher performance
    • Experience with Salesforce and other management systems
    • Experience building a sales strategy and supporting a team that is disciplined, strategic, and focused on the best opportunities to expand and sustain a national client base with the goal of increasing annual sales revenue by 100% in the next 3 years
    • Strong business sense
    • Experience with the structure of the Catholic Church and Pope Francis’ vision for evangelization
    • Demonstrated ability to judge difficult situations; attention to detail; and experience in strategic planning and negotiation
    • Clarity and transparency in communications; strategic listener; understands what motivates customers to buy and know how to tap into those needs and desires in an effective way; team player who collaborates and motivates staff, volunteers, board and donors as well as prospects and clients
    • A strong moral compass and commitment to the highest standards of professionalism as evidenced by collaborative teamwork, initiative, critical thinking, excellent judgment, tact, reliability, and timeliness of follow-through
    • Ability to travel; travel and/or work hours outside the normal business day
    • Strong commitment to RENEW’s mission and the Catholic faith
